…that’s the sound of an Australian exclaiming ‘alright!!’ in excitement over the fact the he, er…I… just made the most stable baritone drone reed I’ve ever been able to pull off from spanish cane. I’d heard about making the cut for the tongue the other way around, ie, starting at the drone end closest to the seat binding. So I did - first time and wala! (voila!) one super-stable and mellow drone reed, not a hint of pitch variation with increase/decrease in pressure whereas my tenor drone made in the ‘normal’ manner is all over the place. First -time lucky perhaps?

Your post will be lost on most members in this forum, but I got it. I migrated from England in 96 and at that time, I wasn’t seeing much of him on TV (I imagine as a result of his ‘Coming out’ (SHOCK!..HORROR!)). I hope that he is now getting work again unlike poor Stephen Fry who was never seen again after coming out.

S Fry did that movie that was sort of about Oscar Wilde, and I’m glad to report that he has (what I think is) a very funny and quirky quiz show called QI on BBC 2 now. Funny and thoughtful man.
