hello,
I’m traveling to Atlanta tomorrow with my band for the Southern Arts Exchange Showcase. Wondering if there are any pipers around, or if anyone has a lead on a session, or anything else fun to do in Atlanta! I’m there until Sunday afternoon.
thanks!

Jordan, the only regular session in town that I know of is at Fado on Monday nights. The place is an absolutely amazing pub and is worth seeing if you never have. (They make a great hot whisky too).
Fado is located in a part of town called Buckhead that has lots (and lots and lots) of other bars around it. It (Fado and Buckhead) gets VERY crowded on Fri and Sat nites.
I called around some of the few other Irish pubs in town but none had any sessions going on. If there’s anything else in particular that y’all want to do, send me an e-mail and I’ll try to give you some ideas.

They had a Fadó pub in Oregon, but it closed down. The Irish on the menu was amusing, but the pub itself was very nice.

They have a corporate office here in Atlanta. From what I understand this one is their showcase in which they dazzle prospective clients. It is truely a masterpiece. The menu is also very good. I suppose that’s because it is a “corporate store”.
Incidently, here is a glimpse of most of the Irish Atlanta scene. http://www.drakedance.com.irishatlanta.htm There aren’t as many traditional music venues here as there used to be.
We also have a Hibernian society here.
We also lay claim the country’s oldest St. Patrick’s day parade (So I understand) which starts in Buckhead (It’s an Atlanta neighborhood. If you’ve been to Atlanta, you probably tied one on there).
They get everything unpacked right in front of my store.
