Oh good…I liked that “25 worst” article. Very gratifying to see AOL at the top of the list. For some reason which is now unclear in my memory, it was briefly installed on our earliest net-friendly Mac…the Performa, I think.
It took me very little time to realize that it was nothing but an evil, unnecessary tyrant, and I eradicated it on that and a couple of ensuing computers that it managed to worm its way onto. Then, I continued to be amazed and appalled as AOL cds fell out of every box I opened over the next 10 years. I’d say “look Gabe, a frisbee!,” and the kid would go outside and obliterate the thing on the driveway. The article captured the feeling well.
