I play tin whistle and kept getting tunes as standard notation, so I built a small tool that does the conversion for me. After a few weeks of using it I figured others might find it useful too: https://flute.rsa.co.il
What it does:
• Drop in an image of sheet music (screenshot, PDF page, scan) - it reads the staff, notes, key signature and rests.
• Generates a D whistle fingering chart: one diagram per note, two octaves, half-hole fingerings for chromatic notes, grouped by bar.
• Plays the tune back on a synthesized whistle so you can hear whether it read the notes right before you print anything.
• Edit notes as text, change octave, transpose to G, and export the chart as PNG or the tune as WAV.
Everything runs in the browser - no upload, no account, free. UI in English (with a Hebrew toggle, since that’s my own language).
Being honest about where it’s rough: it wants a clean, flat image (not a skewed phone photo), treble clef only, sixteenths get read as eighths, and dots and ties aren’t recognized yet - you fix those by hand in the text. On ordinary typeset scores, though, the results have been very good for me, including key signatures, accidentals and rests.
Feedback welcome - especially real sheet music that trips it up, that’s the best way to make the recognition better.
