i spoke with john earlier in the week.
his phone goes whacky when the weather gets bad. Ice storms there usually mean no phone for john for a couple days.

His phone does not work and the truth is that I have been getting a bit worried because this is uncharacteristic. But I have not driven over to see because he is referbishing a Meyer for me and I did na want him to feel harrassed. But in a few more days I will drive over anyhow. It is about an hours nice drive, and my brother lives close by. So let me know if you are able to contact him, I’ll driver over to give him a message if you really want to send him one. I tried to get him to come to Clalncy’s Pub on St. Patrick’s day to fiddle at a gig–more harrasment on my part.

A bit off the immediate topic here, but I met John In Toronto early this year. I was very surprised by the quality of his flutes and by the fact that I hadn’t really heard of him as a good flute maker before.
John loaned me one of his Pratten design flutes to try out and I’m having a great oul’ time with it. Nice embouchure, set up to play well and not just to be easy to play.
He’s also a great fiddler and a fine singer to boot. Some guys have all the luck! A night of crack to remember.
