whoever it is, i really like it (the piping, not the rap song…though the lyrics are hilariously bad!)
Ok, I’ll bite first. Tune is the Tarbolton reel, obviously. The piping style and the rattling bodhran cry Chieftains to me …
ok, i thought it might be paddy. i wish there were more recordings of his solo playing…i love his tone
that’s first track from chieftains 7.
Finally, Rap music that I can listen to!!!
Fantastic ! I can just imagine Paddy sitting there with his baesball cap on sideways and Mister T jewelery around his neck.

Vomits
Well, thank goodness for the rap, eh, or there’d have been no rhythm in there at all. NOT!!!
[Bet you haven’t seen that usage for a while.]

You got that right. I gotta go rinse my mouth.
at the risk of a ‘home-boy popping a cap in my ass’, I can’t help but wonder if copyright has been breached here?
Probably. The rules vary slightly form one country to another but in general you need to get permission from copyright owners before sampling their music and republishing it as your own. They may or may not ask a fee. You also have to credit the copyright owners.
Although the tune being sampled is in the public domain, Paddy Moloney would have mechanical and performer’s rights.
My thoughts exactly.
Disregarding the fact if you like it or not,do you think this kind of thing is good for piping in general ? My thoughts are that if it widens the the group of listeners to pipes ,its got to be a good thing .

Let’s face it. Paddy’s a fine piper, but he’s not noted for his musical chastity. How do we know it’s not licensed?
I get your point, but that is probably among the very worst - as in badly conceived - rap pieces I’ve ever heard. Rap is usually aggressive and imposing, but to me this one just sounds silly and impotent. IMO it throws away any shred of appeal that rap could possibly have, the composition is so wrong. Let’s just say that I’d be mightily surprised if interest in the uilleann pipes came about from such unlistenable Smurf-music.
I think it could have been done more successfully, which IMO would take more cutting and pasting of samples than just playing the tune in full and rapping over it. Strikes me as artistically lazy.
All those factors make me willing to bet that any interest generated in the pipes will be negligible at best, if at all.
OK I may have an over simplistic view of how it works, but who’s to say that maybe some kids may be checking out the rap and on deciding that it is rubbish would hone in on the piping and before you know it,some more whizz kid pipers on the scene .

Perleeeez a little tolerance frae ye all. There is nothing wrang wi rap…terminology like vomit doesnae help at all.I love the comments on the vid saying that the bagpipes are bad ass and “hate the high pitch mosquito noise at random parts”…
Brilliant and says to us all that we are NOT the Bees knees that we like to think we are or at least some o ye do…
Peace Bros and Sis…
It wasn’t the fact of Rap per se for me (whatever my personal preferences I can still recognise a good effort from worse), but it was about what I found to be an irritating squint-eyed chimaera of forcibly mismatched elements (as I subsequently hoped to make clear). It made me think of Gollum. I still think it was merely poorly done, and it doesn’t work. But hey, that’s only me upchucking.
I don’t believe the concept itself is necessarily doomed from the start, but that it could have been done better. Much better.
We could all do better I suppose
Anyways it wasnae yooo that first termed the word here. ![]()
Aye, but to be fair I too admitted to the figurative technicolor yawn. ![]()
