Hi y’all,
I’m curious, I have a very recent new Copeland brass C that has the fipple with the raised wall around it, it really has very fickle intonation, only plays in tune with itself well if pushed all the way in, which brings it up to nearly C-sharp. I can swap in my Copeland D brass fipple and it plays much better in tune with itself. None of my other Copeland instruments (brass and nickel high D, brass low D) are problematic like this.
So, I’m wondering if anyone else has had good luck with the walled fipple on the brass C or if its just my instrument. I’m hesitant to send it back yet again to Copeland if its a design defect, don’t want to wait many months just to be disappointed… I’ve already gone through several iterations with Jim on this one…
Thanks,
Michael
