I just got Vin’s Cd, ‘Bandalised’, and there is great whistle music on it.
One air I love! ‘The Wilderness Road’. Does anyone else know it?

Vin is a Yorkshire songer/songwriter and an amazing whistle player.
The whistle playing is mainly traditional stuff, but a lot I have not heard before…some of the titles on this Cd are Michelle Flynn’s Hornpipe, The Squeeky Chair, The Willow Tree, The Blackbird Hornpipe, The Other Fairy Hornpipe, The Hummersea Slide,
The Copperplate Jig, Anne Bewick’s Pies, The Virginia Reel, The Humours Of Twizziegill,(he wrote this one) Hitlers Downfall, The Rambling Pitchfork.
The air, Wilderness Road, is written by a fellow named Andy McLaughlin.
Vin’s songs are folk, a bit in the vein of Eric Bogle stuff. And he is a brilliantly funny entertainer!

Vin actually comes from Teeside,a (formerly) heavily industrialised area,notable for it’s chemical works (hence the rather disparaging knickname of the locals -‘Smoggies’ or ‘Smogmonsters’, as in ‘Godzilla versus the…’! No offence meant to Teesiders from this ‘Makem’).
Vin plays Shaw and Clarke whistles.
I certainly can’t argue with your second statement-he’s a great entertainer,a great songwriter,and a stalwart of the British Folkclub scene.
With the exhange rate plus international postage, this is tempting but just too expensive for me at this point. I wish Amazon carried this CD.
Oops..troubles with my English geograpy..had to look at my maps. I thought he was from Yorkshire. So Teesside is actually north of Yorkshire? What county is that? How would you describe Vin’s accent?
