any pipers in Sweden - am I being scammed?

Wolvy, what’s the website url for the USSS? I’m getting a little tired of these bozos as well. :imp:

It’s back there a bit on page one of the thread…

Thanks Gary.

All of this has soured me to trying to sell my old Matt Kiernan half set. Scams and all. And then I got a reed from BK that really works nice. All of the sudden, the Matt Kiernan chanter plays wonderfully. And it sounds and feels like a flat set chanter. Gosh, were Kiernan’s chanters narrow bore…or maybe at least medium bore? Just wondering. Maybe I should hang on to these pipes. (even if they are as ugly as…er, Mongo!)

There is beauty in ugly. Hell, hang onto them.

Many of those Nigerian scams actually come out of Sydney, Australia.

Wolvy, I am interested in these pipes but have a lot of bills and christmas coming up. If we can work out a deal where I could send you a third of the price to hold onto them until I get the rest that would be awesome. If you’re more comfortble talking by email mine is dunnp@hartwick.edu
Patrick (I don’t know if I know how to use private messaging on here).

Very easy, click on the pm icon, when the page comes up, enter topic into subject space…it won’t send otherwise. Type your message, click submit and there you are. Happy pm-img…

There’s a similar eBay thing going around. Someone sends you an “official” looking message, claiming they are the eBay Safe House website, and that someone appears to be using your eBay identity to make unauthorized credit card charges. They ask you to go to a website and fill in your name, birthdate, address, bank info etc. Remember, eBay does not have your bank info, Paypal does. And eBay will NEVER ask for financial or personal information via email.

I thought the story was over, but alas, after I told the person that the deal was off, he still sent a cashiers check for $4500. And the pipes were only $1200. After some more e-mail traffic where I told him the pipes were already sold, he asked for the check back. A call to the bank revealed it was a counterfeit. Now he wants me to mail it back to someone in the Netherlands. The USSS says thay can’t do anything and in fact the govt. of Nigeria is involved in running a lot of these scams. So I’ll trash the check and tell him to get lost once again. Unfortunately, he has my phone number (my mistake) and called me at 3:45 AM to ask for the check back. Asshole !!! This whole deal is starting to be a pain in the culo. This person is using the following e-mail address in case you get anything from them:

dan_cury@yahoo.com

and

dan_cury1@yahoo.com

sellers beware.

Or you could tell him you mailed it to the US Consulate in Amsterdam, where he may collect it from the Military Attache. He could always phone them to confirm it’s ready for collection:
