Any IR Trad in Kearney, Nebraska?

:astonished:

We’re stuck here in bad weather… and the eejits in the highway department in this Godforsaken place don’t bother plowing the stuff off the highways.

AUUGGGGHHHHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHHGHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRR

:boggle:

I can’t tell you how many times I have been in that very same situation…on my way to Denver to play a gig, after having played for a month in Omaha. When it snows, it snows for keeps on I-80.

Ain’t that the truth. I-80 has now been closed for the past 8 hours, as is I-76 going into Denver.

We’re counting our blessings, though… we have a nice warm hotel room… the down side is that we may be here for 2 days!

:boggle:

Stuck in Nebraska during a snow storm. Sounds like a tune just screaming to be written!

Yeah, “The Humours of Kearney” sounds like an appropriate title.

If there were anything humorus about it.

:frowning:

“Kearney’s Lament for the Closed Road”…?..it’s got possibilities.

Damn! Now I’ve got “Snowblind Friend” running over and over again in my head. I’ll have to break out the old Steppenwolf LPs to exercise the beast.

djm

Exercise the beast”?

You should touch base with Kevin Reitmann - he’ll have the beast drop & give him ‘20’ in no time.

PS: We’re still here. &(&@(&!!%%*

It’s clearing though, so we expect to hit the road before sunrise.

I heard on the radio that there were a lot of people sleeping in school gyms, so its good you were able to get a room.

Safe travels.

Gary,
Yes, we’d heard that today from a local woman who was trying to contact her sister & family as they were making their way to Denver from here; she said that a lot of folks were allowed to stay in restaurants, schools, just about anywhere that had floor space. So yes, we were indeed lucky - we got off the freeway about 4 or 5 hours prior to the highway patrol closing it, as they had been called to the scene of so many accidents along a long stretch… a total of 7 deaths were realized between Sunday afternoon & Monday morning.

Thanks for the good wishes,

Man, that’s terrible. You guys take it easy when you hit the road again.

We’re ba-a—a-a-a-a-a-a-aack!

Clear roads all the way today!

We stopped in Fleming, Colorado - a mere wide spot in the road, just inside the Colorado / Nebraska state line. I asked the woman who was running the filling station convenience store how the highway I-76 was on Monday.

She said it was fine, pretty well cleared most of the day, though it was for naught, as the highway I-80 in Nebraska was closed for short durations and was still quite icy & snow packed.

But we’re back, none the worse for the wear.

Thanks for the good wishes, all.
