I am looking for a marching band to play the 4th of july.
Rochester,NY
Are you looking for an all flute marching band? Otherwise why would you post in the flute section of this forum???
I am looking for a gig marching bands… mix or flute does any body knows I will travel…
Hi co.ador, welcome.
But as whistleboy said, it’s not at all clear what you’re looking for. You’ll need to be more specific.
If it’s an Ulster-style flute and drum marching band of the kind fielded for Marching Day (12 July) and Orange Order festivities, you might get some suggestions here. But these groups are mostly volunteer associations with year-round commitments to rehearsal, planning, uniforms, etc. So asking about a “gig” doesn’t quite make sense.
American fife and drum corps are a related tradition. But the same strictures apply. And fifing is not something you can just jump into if you’re a flute player.
If it’s an American-style marching band you’re after, you’re probably asking in the wrong place. And again, these will be mostly high school, college, and community bands, not one-time gigs.
So there is not such a Gig marching, high school, orange order festivities etc gigs, I have post here because my friends in MASSchussetts they play trumpets and trombone and are having gigs for this dates I was wondering if for flute is possible too.
some of the fifers can walk and play at the same time…
fifes being a subset of flutes
Any of those would be made of people who have practiced together. It’s unlikely they’d let new people in for just a march or two.
I think you would have to find other people who are unattached to any band and form your own, if you could do so on short notice.
