Have you ever seen such a strange flute? ![]()

What do you get when you cross a clarinet mouth piece with a flute headjoint?
Looks like an ivory flute head on one end and a clarinet head on the other, just stuck together. Musically itâs worth diddly.
Rubbish.
This is the famous Clarinetoflute duck call as used by thrify New Englanders !

I donât know which scares me moreâŚthat people try to combine bits and pieces to chimeras like that or that people are really bidding on it.
I like the Q and A listed on there:
Q: This is an old ivory headjoint and barrel from a flute and an old clarinet mouthpiece. The two are not meant to go together.
A: I just put them together as what was found in the box. Thank you for your information. I always enjoy learning more about what I list. John and Lucy
Translated: I have no fân clue, and donât care if I can fleece some idiot out of $30.
John
Iâm still holding out for another chance on one of those human bone flutes.
OMG
Someoneâs actually bidding $31 for this??

Unbelievable.
Goes to show you George Carlin was right.
"If you nail two things togehter that have never been nailed together beforeâŚ
Some schmuck will buy from ya!
âHey, Iâll give ya a dollar-and-a-half for that!â
âŚIn this case, 31 dollars! Crimey! I need to empty my closet and start attaching things!
A boot and one ear muffâŚwhat do you think? $10?
With or without the laces? Any cracks in the sole? What kind of fur in the muff? Youâre leaving out a lot of important information hereâŚ
John
I wonder if it was maybe someone who wanted to make something out of the ivory. Mightâve gone for $40 if a quarter of the ivory wasnât missing. ![]()
i suspect you could use it to âfillâ old ivory cracks. I friend of mine does that beautifully on old solid-ivory flutes.
but stillllâŚwhat else could you use it for? carving little buddhas??
