I recently got a hold of the new Flook CD “Rubai” and must say I’m enjoying it mightily! As others have stated, it ain’t IR Trad, and I say so what - it’s a fantastic CD, well worth checking out for anyone who digs flutes, whistles, and good music.
Now if only Flook would do a US tour sometime soon…
where did you get your CD ?
I can’t find it anywhere.
Can’t wait to hear it. Flatfish is still one of my alltime favorite
Otter
Otter,
This one is a little different from Flatfish, but wonderful none the less.
I got my copy from Colin Goldie (Thanks Man!), but I spoke with Thom Larson (The Whistle Shop) a couple of weeks ago and he told me he would have some shortly, so I’d check with him first. If that fails, try Tayberry Music, Margaret told me she had some on order as well.
Cheers,
Loren
P.S. I also dig the now Solas CD, although not quite as much as “Rubai”. Gotta say the Solas CD is also non-trad, very…I dunno… Struck me more as a “Seamus Egan the songwriter” Solo CD sort of thing. Honestly I don’t know where they’re headed musically as a group, but what the heck, I’m along for the ride =;^)
Anyone else get the feeling from the CD photos that Seamus and Win are an item?

To me, Solas is sounding more like 10,000 Maniacs (R.I.P. Rob Buck), not that that’s a bad thing! I love the Maniacs, especially the ones with Mary Ramsey as the lead singer.

If not, they’re missing a great chance! Seamus, if you’re reading this, please send Loren and me a private message and put it to rest in our minds. Invite us to the wedding if you like; we won’t eat much cake!
Seamus and Win are of course an item. I did a threesome thing with them last year in Beijing, but was hoping Caren Casey would drop by, but Mick MacCauley showed up after a few drinks and the whole thing turned into a jam session–which was even more fun.
