Okay, last one (I hope). I’m getting a Kerry low D and was wondering what I need to do as far as care and maintenance are concerned. Do I need to clean the inside with a cloth after I play it? How about the effect of natural oils from my fingers? Will it start to degrade the metal? Any tips would be great. Thanks in advance.
Nothing you need to do. If the feel the whistle needs a cleaning (like once a year), you can wash it with warm water and dishwashing liquid. The aluminum alloy is virtually indestructible. It will darken a bit around the fingerholes with time, nothing to worry about. You can polish it if you want or use extra-fine steelwool. But non of that is required.
