another annoying question: thumbhole placing

Hi there
I apologize if the thread is repetitive.
I’m asking which is the correct position for a thumbhole on a C or D high whistle.
I wish to try this configuration tweaking one of my cheap testing whistles.
Many thanks in advance.
Andre

I’ll presume you are referring to the C nat thumbhole for the top/left hand rather than the rather less requested thumbhole for the right hand. Roughly halfway between the first two top fingerholes is good, or even slightly lower, but drill the hole small to start with and increase the size to bring it into tune. The right spot is a combination of distance and size but you should firstly take into account the comfort factor of where your thumb usually sits and work with that.

Many thanks, my friend. My Dremel today will work hard
