I’m am going to post an ABC that I just through together by recording my whistle and using various programs to covert it to ABC. I would lieke to post it here, and see if anyone can accurately reproduce the song from ABC and the short bit of Lyrics I will provide. If you think you’ve got it right email me a recording an awenwoodwinds@rcn.com This is an experiment to see how usefull ABC is to learning tunes you’ve never heard before. If you like the song, feel free to play it whenever… A hint, it has a “sort of” hornpipe “swing” to it… I also played it in Bb, not Eb I don’t know why the ABC program changed it. Any key will do, I’m not picky.
Lyrics:
Come sit with me ‘nieth the ol’ willow tree
I’ll tell ya a tale as it was told ta me
The sun it rose red above the western sea
The waves did rage appon the vast shore you see… etc
I just tried it… that ABC to sheet isn’t even close… it’s be transcribed or something… It has the first note as a “g” and the first note in the abc is “b”
