An Apple Ad

Ran across this link on the Internet. It’s Alan Greenspan hawking Apple IIC’s, in 1985.

Ironically, I can’t access that on an eMac. Will try later on the pc.

I have an eMac at work! Great computer!

Your problem might be browser-dependent. My defaul browser Firefox used to have problems with helper apps, but after posting the original version of this message I decided to see whether they’d finally fixed the problem between 1.0PR and the full release of 1.0, and I’m delighted to report that although I had to tell Firefox to use RealOne Player, once I did that it worked fine.

Try control-clicking the link above and going in the contextual menu to “Copy Link Location” to get the URL, then open RealOne Player and use File->Open Location… (or Command-L) to bring up a window into which you can paste the URL.

Or you can control-click and “Save Link As …” and once it’s downloaded you can drag that file’s icon to the RealOne Player icon/name in your Applications folder or in your dock, if you happen to have RealOne there.

Or try switching browsers. Safari 1.0.3 also handles it fine, opening the file using RealOne and starting the clip without any further hints from me. So does Camino 0.8.1. Of course, you need to have RealOne Player on your hard drive already … let’s see … http://www.real.com/ , with a link to the free player near the upper right corner.

John, on a 700 MHz flat-screen iMac running OS 10.2.8 (I know, so last year)

Had to download a RealPlayer, actually. Then it worked.
Amazing how fast computer technology progresses.

Well, except that in the shape of RealPlayer it actually regresses.
