Amusing for some perhaps

Unfortunately I could not figure out how to show my results here.

Very cool. I wonder, though, about copyright problems if you print off artwork…hmmm

Susan

It ain’t all that great. I typed in “Nanohedron” as a searchword and came up with nada. Big deal. Then I typed in “crap” and the montage was puzzlingly inchoate.

Hrmph. I typed in “sunflower” and got a very pretty montage. You have to get out of the gutter, Nano! Try the game - I did lousy, but I’m sure I’ll do better next time. You have 20 seconds to look at a montage and guess what word they googled to get that montage.

Susan

Hey, the gutter’s where all the interesting cranks and extraterrestrials are. But okay. Next time I’ll try something like “buttercups” or “Carebears”. :smiling_imp:

I don’t see how people can print up their montages. When I right click I don’t get anything that leads to an option to print. Apparently those things at the bottom of the page were printed by people.

susnfx, I wondered about the copyright thing too. In your own home it wouldn’t matter, but it doesn’t seem like you could make posters or brochures using it.

nano, you have to use some judgement  about what you type in. Crap means too many things. If you use a word more specifically defining the sort of crap you are interested, you might get a delightfully disgusting result.

Authors with uncommon names can work out really well. Also, food can be neat. Like mangoes or papayas or oranges!

That is pretty! Is it a secret how you saved it? I can’t figure it out.

Is your key word “origami”? Except the Southern Gospel Music doesn’t fit in. Maybe you made this on your own. Wait, wait! Maybe you put in two words!!! I haven’t tried that. Bye!

I used my own name.

“Fistula” and “buckwheat” were interesting.

I am sorry to report that I tried “fistula” (I was unable to use the clever suggestion “buckwheat” along with it) and I can only say I wish I had looked it up in the dictionary first. :stuck_out_tongue:

 :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:

I typed in my first name, Cynthea, thinking that nothing would come up since the spelling is unusual. But 20 things did, none of them me of course. I was a bit taken aback by these two:

I suppose it’s one of the dogs.

My montage was entirely red.

I typed in the name of a friend, Lily, and among some very pretty pictues of lilies were the words ‘bandwith thief’ What the hell is that about? -Sort of made it unprintable too.

mike

Cranberry–I bet you typed in “cranberry”. I’m going to try it.

Miwokhill—weird things come up and unfortunately there is no way to get them out. Maybe there is a famous bandwidth thief named Lily (which is the name of one of our kitties, by the way). You can see what website the picture comes from if you hold the little hand over the picture and sometimes you can figure it out from that—providing you have nothing better to do.

When you say it “sort of made it unprintable”—well, do you mean you would have printed it if it hadn’t had that phrase in it? I cannot figure out how to print them at all. Any tips?

Cynth, I just tried ‘lilies’ and I just get the nice pictures without the bandwith thief boxes. Yea, I meant that it wouldn’t have made a very good picture with that in it. I think to print you right click which should bring up a window with several options including print picture. I haven’t tried to print it yet though mostly because I’m low on magenta ink and I also need to clean my print head because of the dreaded horizontal banding.

oops!- actually that doesn’t seem to work with this. I’m not sure how to print it either!

mike

OK, thanks Mike, I just wondered if I was the only one who wasn’t getting a “Print” option. But Walden seems to have been able to at least save his to something—since he posted it here—and I don’t see any way to save it. Oh well, it’s not important.

Oh—I know what you mean about using the plural because I had the same experience with “poppy” and “poppies”. Course I didn’t think to mention it, just didn’t come to mind.

I also am unable to save or print the montage image. I can only save the individual photos that make up the montage. A right click does not give the option to save.

There are also a number of other similar things, like montage-a-google, at Grand Robinson’s homepage. Just use the link given in the first post, and click on projects at the top of the page. At Grant’s project page, click on “home” and “portfolio”.

By the way, the words “Irish flute” makes an interesting montage at montage-a-google.

Doug, I tried out some whistle variations and got some pleasing results, although there was always one image or another I didn’t like. But I think I could have played around with the words more. I got a nice one for pianos I think----keyboards, sheet music, beautiful wood, etc. I’ll have to try flutes. I think I got a nice one for UP’s as well.

I’m surprised there is no way to save or print them. Especially since he shows that example at the bottom. I might email him, just for fun. But how did Walden get his here?

I tried some of his other projects, but I can’t draw so the “scribble” one wasn’t too good for me. But I liked the “onion” one where you could see what it would be like to draw animation.

I also did very badly on the quiz for guessing the keywords. It was actually pretty fun though. I only got 4 out of 10 right.
