I had thought of doing this myself, but didn’t have the emotional energy all week for playing or recording the whistle. I thought I was doing better until I looked at the post with all the photos from around the world of people holding candles, flowers, etc. and I was overwhelmed again, pondering what it signified. My brother emailed me today with his account of running to the Pentagon to look for his wife. It was 5 hours before he found out whether she was alive or not. He had even called his house to prepare his kids for the possible bad news. I feel so lucky and relieved my sister-in-law was unharmed, but I still feel like I’ve lost family thinking about all the people who were not so lucky.
I’ll plan on getting my own rendition of Amazing Grace on the site this weekend. Maybe it will help with healing my own heart. Would anyone else like to send in a recording? I could put them together on the Tune of the Week page with a dedication. If anyone would like to add to the dedication, that would be welcome. Let me know if you want your name included.
