Question from a newbie. Have a whistle. I can make a sound, even a recognizable tune. But the more I practice, the more saliva collects in the whistle and the harder it is to get some notes. Any tricks to minimize this? (other than sucking in hard after every couple notes to recirculate the saliva)

Welcome Bob, happy whistling to you. Clogging is a common problem. Some whistles are more likely to clog than others (narrow passages, different materials). A good cleaning with soapy water helps, warming the whistle up with body heat helps, a strong inhale between songs with the windway covered helps. Some people resort to flinging, but I would not suggest that for polite company.

Before you begin a song, cover the vent hole with your finger(so there’s no sound) and give a firm blow to clear the head.
