Hey, it worked for Sting. Apparently, he can keep going all night…Oh wait, sorry…maybe that was something else.
I’ve had some limited exposure to Alexander Technique concepts many years ago, and I find that they are quite useful in application for piping, flute, pretty much any musical instrument.
Anything one can do to reduce unnecessary muscle tension while playing I think is of great value and goes a long way to preventing injury in the long-run.
…and the Uilleann Pipes are certainly an instrument that seem speciffically designed to promote muscle tension. ![]()

I know a number of violinists and guitarists (classical in both cases) who swear by the Alexander Technique and are all convinced that it helps them play as it assists posture etc.,
By coincidence I am starting a course (session?, class?) on Friday having been persuaded by the same people.
