Something of interest for all the former Hippies in here (don’t know about the rest of the world, but here in Switzerland most folkies over 40 are former hippies - or still are).
Yesterday morning (that’s tuesday) Albert Hoffmann, inventor of LSD and citicen of my hometown, died at his home at age 102. He discovered the drug by coincidence while looking for a drug that should stimulate the circulation, while working for a pharmaceutical company in Basel. The discovery of the real effect got it’s place in history as “the bicycle trip”, since Hoffmann took the drug before riding his bicycle home from work and then was quite surprised at the course of events on his way home…
Hoffman continued to drop acid occasionally for the rest of his life. Clearly LSD is beneficial for longevity. ![]()

…both kinds.
102 ! ![]()
Coincidence?
He was also responsible for the song:
You are my sunshine
My orange sunshine
You make me happy
when skies are red/blue/green/purple/teal…
Pure Sandoz (sp?)
Pure acid is something that I am very thankfull for..
It opened many doors, and perceptions, for me back in the day.
It got some bad press ,but when it was pure, it was something that went beyond words and experience and opened up parts that I never knew existed.
Some accident ![]()
Slan,
D.
I knew guys named Albert and Hoffman back then, and both dropped acid. They weren’t the same guy, though, at least not during the time we were acquainted.
Wow, cool man like where’s my copy of Huxley man, OH! wow! trails… when I type, man! Those little Emoticons on the side are tripping me out! ![]()
Speaking of orange sunshine, does this look suspicious or what?

“What a looong strange trip it’s been…” ![]()
Redwolf
He had it just a minute ago. It was right there. Wait, hold on. Let him think for a minute. It was right there. All of it.
Not being a child of the '60s, I have no understanding of Mr Hoffman’s fondness of hallucinogenic chemical substances (I was of the “Just Say NO!” era…). But I did always find his research to be interesting. May he rest in peace.
Do you ever think about how every atom in, say, your thumbnail could be it’s own little universe or solar system and somewhere in every one of those, a little tiny, tiny Albert Hoffmann is dead?
…or that maybe our solar system is an atom and our galaxy is a molecule and we’re part of a super-mongo huge Albert Hoffman’s remains?
Oh! wait! And every one of those little universes could have a little me who has atoms that are little universes in which there are a little me who has…that’s real copasetic.
Oh, no, he’s outside, looking in.
I’d be a little leery of saying that if I was you ![]()
wasn’t Al…that was Tim ![]()
I think his head is still around waiting to be re-animated. If you live long enough perhaps you can ask him about that yourself. ![]()
I’m still trying to read what’s written on the symmetrical pattern of bubbles in the toilet and … oh, sh1t! Flashback … ![]()
