Given the description, undoubtedly this was Jim McGuires set that he recently must have sold. Interesting to hear that it is being flipped so quickly?? I am sure that this can be confirmed easily by either Jim or the seller (Jimās name is on the stock I believe). Tough purchase for US $ with current exchange rate. It will be interesting to see what a gloabal open auction will fetch for a quality set like this. I hope that it sells well.

this could be the one, I played it for a good bit before this gentleman took over so I could take the pic. This was around 1988 I think. Pier Kuipers was there to, he took several pictures of both of us playing it and later used these to design the NPU logo used on their website.
If it IS the same set, it looks as though somethingās changedā¦
the plastic ring around the top & bottom of the mainstock ferrule is missing in the Ebay pic, for oneā¦

The set in the auction is concert pitch. I see that a bidder from France has placed the first three bids but still has not triggered the Reserve.
It would be nice to know a bit more about itā¦has anyone there in Dublin come across it? How is it set up just now?

Looks like a very nice set indeed, a real showpiece of a set. The Froment pipes Iāve seen live seem to be very well made instruments. Mick OāBrian has a couple of fine Froment sets. Are Froment D chanters/regs easy to reed does anyone know? Iām thinking about self maintenance if one doesnāt have access to Alain.
Four regs does seem a bit over the top though, also the fully keyed chanter, still I wouldnāt say no if I didnāt already have a working set.
As far as I know, friends of mine who play Froment sets (French players mainly play Froment sets, for heās French, and I suspect theyāre afraid by the idea of ordering a set in a foreign language) reed them very easily, with their own production.
Chanters made by Alain are famous for their standardization: so, when you know how to reed one, itās quite easy to reed another.
Could be an exciting finish! Will the set go to the US, Ireland, UK, France, or Japan?
