Dear Friends,
The 2008 newsletter of the African Blackwood Conservation Project is now available online at www.blackwoodconservation.org/08report.html.
This year we report on:
- Planting initiatives for African blackwood funded by the Good Gifts Catalog.
- The exciting journey of oboist Brenda Schuman-Post to Tanzania and Mozambique, to collaborate and compose original music with Tanzanian musicians, and to meet with several conservationists working to insure a viable future for mpingo, including Sebastian Chuwa.
- A Cottonwood Foundation grant to the Kibosho East Environmental Group, to fund a tree planting project on Mt. Kilimanjaro for poverty alleviation and environmental improvement.
- Sebastian and Elizabeth Chuwa’s journey to the US, to attend a childhood nature education conference sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation, the World Forum Foundation, and the Nature Action Collaborative for Children.
The staff of the ABCP sends its wishes to all for a happy holiday season.
Sincerely,
James Harris/Bette Stockbauer-Harris
