aeon flux movie surprises me

You know, it’s not that bad.

Is it as good as The Smurfs and the Magic Flute?

I suspect that has more to do with Charlize Theron than anything else. I mean, really.

It’s tempting to write a tune Charlize Theron’s Impractical Sleepwear.
It would have to be a slip-jig

My expectations were low, (how could they possibly convert that strange comic into a movie?). I was amazed how close they were to achieving that goal.
Goodchilde’s character seemed to be lifeless though.

That does it, I must see that movie now.

Well, Ms. Theron’s interesting. I have said that I double-dog dare anybody to name a better movie performance in all of film history than—HEY PLEASE STOP SHOWING THOSE PICTURES OF AL-ZARQAWI’S DEAD FACE ON TELEVISION!!–(excuse me)–to name a better movie performance in all of film history than Theron in “Monster.” Nobody’s been able to do it. But, her performance in Aeon Flux is not at all impressive. Maybe there just wasn’t much to work with there.

-It may be tough to inject nuance and character into (if faithful to the TV program) the weird stylistic hybrid of irony, coolness and floss-garb. -Maybe the floss is meant to offset the harsh angularity of that world with voluptuous imagery, but I kinda think its for the teen/early adult
demographic-and maybe a little for the late middle-age mostly male wooden-flute demographic too.

Not that I have anything against Charline Theron or anything, but from the comic character in Heavy Metal, I always pictured someone more like Claudia Black playing this role.

I can’t imagine anyone sitting through Monster. Just the subject matter looked so dreary that I stayed away.

I thought it was kind of cool. I was prepared for much lameness, but I’ll give most sci-fi a chance. The combination of special-effects/acrobatics was great. I thought the plot should have been weirder to match the animated shows more closely. That’s not saying the story wasn’t weird. I thought for sure, she’d be killed in the end because she died so often in the early cartoons.

One point I couldn’t get over: if 99% of the world’s population died, how did the rest develop such sophisticated technology??? I’d expect barbarism or at least a regression to the middle ages. (I hope I haven’t said too much.)

Just watched it, and must say I enjoyed their attempt to make something at least part ways original, instead of the usual B-movie derivative post-this and that crap that makes up 99% of sci-fi these days.

So, um, how was Charlize’s acting?

I … er … don’t understand the question.

I thought as much.
