I don’t play this tune alot, but it does come around every now and then.
Playing the C natural on the run up from a ,to b to c to D and then back down to C is awkward.
I’m using a 2 4,5,6 fingeringfor my C natural…
any advice?
Ben
Just use 2,3 for that C natural. It might sound a little sharp on your flute but shouldn’t be noticeable when you’re playing at speed, and it’s much less awkward (might be awkward for the first month or two while you get used to it).
You might also be able to use 2,3,6 on the C natural. It might be faster going to the D with only two fingers to drop.
I can get a passable C nat with that one if no one is listening close, or the 2,3, or maybe just a 2, and not anger anybody but the harpist. It helps to have tone deaf friends around also.
No one is going to notice if the Cnat is sharp or flat ; but muddled fingering will get you some attention. Find the most economical way to cleanly finger it - for you. 2-3 or 2-3-6 are virtually the samething in that particuliar run of notes.
