Are gun cases any good for using as a pipes case?
I find gun cases a bit too thin, as in the height, top to bottom if the case is flat on the ground.
I like these ones though https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32954882397.html Very solid too. I have one for a personal set and I supply them with half and full sets too.

Wow, those look great Tommy. A great price too. Thanks for the recommendation.
. A great price too.
At 45 the price itself is great, a shame shipping, at 91 to Ireland, effectively triples it. ![]()
Makes it instantly less attractive which is a shame as it would suit both my full set and the 3/4 NBD nicely.
It is something that seems to happen all the time now when buying stuff online, you find something worthwhile at a good price and then they add a prohibitive amount for shipping.
I don’t know what their shipping prices are like, but Maplins do a decent range of flight cases. Delivery’s usually free over about £35 to UK addresses (some of which of course are in Ireland…)

There’s another one, 680x320x170, that will fit two sets too Peter.

Which of these is the right size for a full set?

Depends of course on your pipes and on how much you want to dismantle them.
I take the bass drone end piece and the top of the bass reg off, for me, the size 720-220-140 would seem ideal - my own case is slightly smaller (700-240-120), and I can fit the full set in it, plus two additional chanters (D and B_b_), low whistles in D and G, high whistles B_b_, C, D, E_b_, a pair of bones and a packet of cigarettes. If necessary, I can even jam a C low whistle in as well, but then without the cigarettes.
