Recently on E-Bay there was an offer to sell a book on “How To Make Uilleann Pipes”, by (allegedly) someone going by the name Loyell Donnegan.
It has been mentioned on the UP List that these plans are, in effect, lifted from the work previously undertaken by Wilbert Garvin.
If you see such plans being advertised, please be aware that they may well be stolen.
I hereby provide a message directly from Wilbert Garvin that appeared on the UP List:
…
Dear List server
Although not at present a subscriber to the list I would appreciate it if you
would post to subscribers information concerning a serious situation where Loyel
Donnegan is attempting to, once again, auction a set of plans for a set of pipes
on ebay which are in clear breach of copyright law - they are copied straight
from my book - The Irish Bagpipes - their construction and maintenance.
I would like to thank those good piping friends who keep me informed of such
violations and would encourage all members on the list to pass the word around.
This worked last time as the item was quickly withdrawn.
A new hardback presentation and updated edition of the book is now available

I know that you all do your best - use emails and web as it can be used for
good.
All the best
Wilbert
Over the past few days I have spoken with Wilbert about this, he is indeed appalled by this. Whatrever the way the people sellign this stuff are crooks and should be steered clear of.
Who is Loyel Donnagan? On his website he calls himself a master pipemaker and has two sets for sale. Has anyone heard of him? Has anyone tried his pipes?
eBay has a policy against selling items which are known to infringe on copyrights. If you go to the following link http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/fpp.html
it will give you a list of steps to take action against a seller listing such items.
Just to be crystal clear on this, Tony has indeed posted the correct link to the E-bay auction in question, but the picture associated at that link may be leading people to believe that the offer was for pipes for sale, and this is not the case.
The link at E-bay that Tony provided is for a BOOK on how to make pipes, and the book being offered is a rip-off of Wilbert Garvin’s book on making Uilleann pipes, thereby making the “book by Loyell Donnegan” a copyright infringement, as it has become clear that Mr. Garvin’s work has been copied without his permission.
So to be clear, the offer is for a book, not a set (or sets) of pipes.
Copyright infringement is theft, plain and simple.
