P.S. Denny is a sly one…make sure you always click his pictures

sly? efficient? lazy!

Thanks for the tip, Izzarina. I shoulda known that!

Denny, thanks for all the space pic posts. Helps to put our earthly woes in perspective! I was a young engineering intern with NASA back in the early 70s and played a teeny tiny role in the development of the shuttle orbiter. The Apollo program was just winding down, and we were excited about the new reuseable space plane, though when the configuration was changed to the jettisonable tank and solid rocket booster design I recall thinking sheesh what a Rube Goldberg looking contraption and a recipe for disaster.

That, and the thing isn’t nearly as efficient as it should have been. People would laugh at a commercial aircraft that used solid fuel rocket engines to take off and dropped the main fuel tank when it was almost to its destination. Then you hear people say that space exploration is too expensive, just look at the shuttle.

Don’t even get my started on the return to the moon make work project for the military industrial complex. “Lets biggiesize what worked 40 years ago!”

Its like I’ve always said: if only they’d perfected anit-grav drives first. (sigh)
