Hi Cai,
Is that an original composition? It was very pleasant. I clicked on another video that had an English title, and ‘The Road to Errogie’ expecting the reel but was pleasantly surprised with Tir Rafartaigh instead, which is on my favourites list. Glad to know that the music is travelling into Asia! Keep playing ![]()
Chih
Really pretty, nice tune!
Very nice playing on both the whistle and guitar.
Yes, you’re getting there, and quickly I might add, Cai, very nice! I also wanted to hear the one Chih mentioned too:

I liked the first part very much, don’t know if that’s Tir Rafartaigh, but nice tune and nicely played, and I like the tune too! The last part is just a little fast for my preference-I think there should be a speed limit, just like with cars! But you are doing great, Cai-nice to have a partner (your guitarist) to play off of, I imagine. It sure can help you guage your playing in tune too, as long as you listen well.
Thank you for sharing your music with us. Is that a Chieftain V3 you are playing? It has a nice tone.
Yep Barry,…I re-read my message and probably should’ve elaborated. The Road to Errogie was preceded by Tir Rafartaigh. They’re both new compositions if I’m not mistaken.
Lovely stuff, Shao Yang. I agree with Barry about the speed in The Road to Errogie, though. It’s just a bit too fast for you - you’re tripping up over some of the phrases - the same ones each time, I think - because your fingers can’t quite keep up! I’d be inclined to play it, not just practice it, actually play it, a lot slower and get everything in the right place.
It’s good stuff, though.
i first see this tune,in the album from the band “FLOOK”
Ah yep looks like ol’ Flook did record these tunes too!! ![]()
Tir Rafartaigh was written by Michael Rooney (it was on the liner notes for the Draoícht CD - with June McCormack). I’ve been told that the reel was written by a Scotsman.
