The first fart-propelled aircraft.
Research has proven that cotton candy is produced as a byproduct of supersonic flight!
…In other news, NASA scientists are perplexed to discover that many of their test-pilots suffer from severe gas.
That may also very well not be a sonic boom photo, although it also could be… During a Luke Air Force base airshow in March this year, they had the F/A-18 Super Hornet do a sub-sonic fly by as part of it’s demonstration, with a Very similar water vapor cloud coming off the back of the plane like the one in the photo above. Although we had some good rainfal the days before, so the humidity was up alot higher then normal for us desert rats, so I’m sure that attributed to the effect we got to see.
I must say the Super Hornet really is one compared to original Hornet, I thought an F-14 tomcat had taken off before I first saw the plane! I can’t believe they retired the tomcat… Such an awesome jet.

I’m with you there. One of the all-time greats. All good things…But the Super Hornet is pretty cool.

A stunning eggsample of a jet eggcraft.

Wait
F14 are retired?
I believe they retired the Tomcat sometime last year if I’m not mistaken, I know it was recent, but the exact date escapes me. The Super Hornet as I understand it, is suppose to take over for the Tomcat.
I remember going out to Miramar, San Diego (or is it Marimar…) back in the mid 90’s and catching their awesome air shows. My favorite was seeing those F-14’s do high sub-sonic fly by’s at night with full afterburner… Good stuff indeed, hell I enjoyed watching those suckers fly period.
Now most (if not, all) of the F-14’s are down here in southern Arizona in the “bone yard” being destroyed so that they don’t get into the “wong hands”… (That would be my hands
) “It’s time to buzz the tower…”

Doh- F-22 Raptor I forgot that the new kid on the block
Break on through to the other side.
“I feel the need…”
“The need for speed” haha
The F-22 Raptor is suppose to take over for the F-15 Eagle, and I’m not sure but I heard also the F-117 Stealth. Must be one hell of an aircraft.
They train the F-22 pilots at Tyndall AFB, which isn’t too far south of my parent’s house. Every now and then you see them flying around. Twice I’ve seen them practicing low-level flying. That is something to see! You hear a loud rumbling noise, go outside to see what it is, then watch a jet streaking by overhead just over the treeline.
I was sad to see the F-14s go too. Such a great fighter. I grew up watching the Navy pilots around NAS Pensacola and the Blue Angles practice and perform around Pensacola in their F-14s. It was amazing what they could get those jets to do. Now the Blues fly F/A-18’s, which are also amazing, but I can’t help but look back at the F-14s with nostalgia.
