Reminds me of the time, way back in the mid seventies when meself and a buddy used to go busking in Grafton Street in Dublin.This was long before it became pedestrianised and the deal with the beat coppers was that as long as a crowd were not blocking the footpath we were cool but if the path did get blocked then we had to move on.
'Twas a grand little system that kept everybody happy.
Nowaday the pitches are designated and the buskers are all licensed…which takes the fun out of it ,I should imagine. It also creates major problems for anybody trying to supplement their unemployment benefits as well
