After 10 years on the Higland pipes I recently switched to the UP world. Have a half set of SG pipes that I received a month ago. While I am still wrestling with bellows, steady pressure and second octave issues, i was very surprised how easily the old Highland tunes transfer to the UP. I wasn’t expecting that. It’s so much more gratifying to practice the fundamentals by playing simple tunes versus drills and scales and such.
