..Why did I spend good money on hide glue, when all along, I had ready to hand a large supply of the ultimate animal adhesive: cat-poo glue?
Nah-- the really ultimate glue is smashed bugs on your windshield, baked in place on a 95* day…
Me, I like propolis. I use it for everything.
True, but I’d classify that as an enamel rather than a glue.
If you built fiddles with it, I daresay the vague but persistent scent of feline sewage - and that whiff rising so intimately under the chin - would be a deciding factor in their having a significantly low spot on the totem pole in the market. But, you never know until you try.
“Hey, you really built that yourself? Niiiiiiiice.”
“Oh, you know. No big deal. I just threw it together with some crap.”
Truth in disclosure, anyway…
Pre-catalyzed powdered cat resin is usually used just for veneer, must be why I don’t care for most veneer work.
Gee.
Been thinking of our cats as relatively cheap entertainment.
Now…I’m beginning to see them as relatively expensive glue-sticks.
Thanks.
And for all those years you’ve been wondering what was meant by ‘genuine catgut’ - it’s not what it’s made out of, it’s where it’s from!
There’s room for a PhD dissertation proving that the shift from the medieval-era chest or breast-bone rebec/viol hold to the now-standard under-the-chin violin stance only became possible after Antonio Stradivari pioneered the use of alternate adhesives in luthiery.
Yeah, propolis and bee poop.
