A leap of faith (joke) ...

Two men are sitting at the bar at the top of the Empire State Building drinking, when the first man turns to the other one and says:

“You know, last week I discovered that if you jump from the top of this building, by the time you fall to the 10th floor, the wind around the building is so intense that it carries you around the building and back
into the window.”

The bartender just shakes his head in disapproval while wiping the bar, but says nothing.

The second guy says, “What? Are you insane? There’s no way in heck that could happen!”

“No, no… it’s true…” said the first man, “let me
prove it to you.”

He gets up from the bar, jumps over the balcony and plummets toward the street below. When he passes the 10th floor, the high wind whips him around the building and back into the 10th floor window. He takes
the elevator back up to the bar.

He meets the second man, who is astonished. “Oh my God, I saw that with my own eyes! But that must’ve been a one time fluke. That was scientifically impossible!”

“No, I’ll prove it again,” says the first man as he jumps.

Again, just as his body hurtles towards the street, the 10th floor wind gently carries him around the building and into the window. He takes
the elevator back to the bar. Once upstairs, he successfully convinces
his dubious fellow drinker to try it.

“Well, what the heck,” the second guy says, “I’ve seen that it works, so I’ll try it!”

He immediately jumps over the balcony - plunges downward - rapidly passes the 11th, 10th, 9th, 8th floors…

His body hits the sidewalk…Splat !!!

Back upstairs, the bartender who had been silent the whole time turns to the first drinker, and shakes his head “You know, Superman, you’re
a real ah* when you’re drunk.”

Best wishes,
Jerry

I can do that (metaphorically). I’ve done it many times.

I’m not Superman, though.

There is a scene in the Chaplin film, The Great Dictator,
where Goering brings Chaplin, playing Hitler, an
inventor who claims he has invented a parachute
that fits in his hat. To prove it he jumps out the
window–they’re on the tenth floor of the Chancellry.

The camera focuses on Chaplin’s expressionless face
as he looks down from the window. Then Chaplin
turns, sits down at his desk and says to Goering,
bitterly:

‘Why do you waste my time?’

My favorite faith joke, which may be altered to any particular faith:

A Rabbi(or priest, or imam) is in a small town beseiged by a hurricane. His congregants plead with him to leave the synagogue(church, mosque) to seek higher ground. He replies “No… God (Allah)will protect me”.
The waters rise and several of his congregants come back, this time in a rowboat to take him to safety. Still he replies " I am of strong faith, and the Lord will save me".
Later, the waters have risen to the roof of the synagogue and the rabbi is sitting on the very peak of the roof. A coast guard helicopter hovers ahead and through the bullhorn they plead with him to grab the life ring dangling below the chopper so they can take him to safety. He reiterates “No, my faith is strong, and I know that God will save me”. The helicopter flies away and very soon the waters rise over the roof of the synagogue and the rabbi drowns.
He arrives at the gates of heaven, where God is waiting for him. He is angry with God, saying “All my life I believed in you and trusted in you but at my moment of need you neglected me”. God replies “What do you mean I neglected you? I sent a rowboat, and a helicopter…”.

Very good, Paul.

Ditto. That’s always been one of my favorites.

A Scotsman, an Englishman and an Irishman were walking on a beach when they found a bottle. When they uncorked it, out popped a Genie.
“Thank you, masters” cried the Genie “As I am permitted to grant three wishes, I will grant one wish to each of you. Who will be first?”.
The Scotsman says “My wish is simple. I am a fisherman. My father was a fisherman, and his father before that. I want my son to be a fisherman, so my wish is that the sea be filled with fish and never run out.”
“Granted” says the Genie and claps his hands. KABOOM!!! Immediately the sea is alive with fish, swimming, jumping splashing.
“I’m next,” says the Englishman, “I love my country and would like to make it safe from all invaders. Can you do that?”
“Easily” the Genie replies, claps his hands and KABOOM!!! there is a huge wall encircling England.
“Hold on a minute,” says the Irishman, “tell me more about this wall.”
“The Genie then turns to the Irishman and asks “How can I please you master?”
Well,” says the Genie “It’s 100 ft high and 50ft thick and nothing can get in or out.”
“In that case” says the Irishman “fill it with water.”
