A funny thing happened on the way to the forum (C&F Flute Forum that is)!
I’m carelessly strolling along, minding my own business, going to check on responses to my posted threads pertaining to the new love in my life Mrs. Copley (I can use this title since Dave’s wife kept her maiden name). I’m thinking it is time to settle down and stop being a “Flute Philanderer”. I’m thinking of long-term commitment, raising lots of little notes and growing old together.
When who’s path should a wander across, but Marcus Hernon’s. She calls out to me in a powerful deep dark and reedy voice “Hey sailor want to try a toot!” I turn to look and am instantly in her spell. I am so easily willed by a piece of Blackwood wearing silver rings. Before I even realize what I’m doing we are making arrangements for our rendezvous! I feel so wretched, yet incredibly elated!
This is not a passing fad; I’ve been this way for quite some time. I have to admit I suffer from F.A.D. (Flute Acquisition Disorder). There now I’ve said it. They say “admitting you have a problem is the first step on the road to recovery.”
Does the Betty Ford Clinic have a wing dedicated to the malady?
That is a great way to think of it Berti. I even like to take care of my wooden instruments in fact I just oiled my Flute (yep the one you sold to me Jordan) because it sounds amazing after oiling and I played about 3 hour long practices yesterday because I was bored and was alternating between the computer and the Flute. I have FAD (also called FlOA) myself.
I have been in remission in my FAD, though my WHoa symptoms have escalated… even though my funds are so spare I cannot do more than look longingly at another, I find myself in the dealing postion… I have been buying for others… very convenient, actually, though I make not a cent, I get to fulfill my need to obtain more instruments without actually clogging up more space in the music room, nor further stressing the moths in my wallet … and I am making others happy, though some would accuse me of feeding their addiction… mwuuhahahaaaaaaaa!.. but since I’m not making any money, it can’t really be charged that way, and they are all adults, so I not really contributing to the (further) delinquency of otherwise postively contributing citizens, right? Oh… wait… we’re talking about flute and whistle players (not rcrd*r players, of course, they are far more decent )
