A few pictures from Ireland

Thank you, Dale. I feel truly honored!

Well done, Dale. And Jessie I’ve shown that picture to all of my friends that come over. I’m really captivated by it. The composition is excellent, the lighting and contrast are beautiful and the hardest thing of all, ‘looking elegant while playing a whistle’, you accomplished marvelously.

Peace,
Erik

Wow, Erik…thanks for the compliments…I’ll pass on Richard’s half to him. The picture took about 3 seconds to capture…it was not planned, but was relatively candid. I knew he had a camera, but I was just sitting there playing my whistle.

Dale, that’s what impresses me about you. You’re always thinking, creating, and you have excellent taste.

I’ve taken a close look with a magnifying glass at the water behind her and noticed at 1000 x’s magnification that there is a sea monster–Nessie’s sister, no doubt–chasing after “three fish”.

Jessie, all these pictures are really incredible but I was awed by the one of the boat used in “Water from the well”. I mean what are the odds of finding it, unless may be someone told you where to find it…
Thanks for sharing with us!

Jessie,
Thanks for sharing your good times with us. That is what I like best about this board, the sense of community and sharing of experiences. Lovely photos! And Dale, nicely done!
Sue

The ‘Water From the Well’ boat is not hard to spot. It’s off a main road to Roundstone, near Maam Cross, in Connemara, if I remember correctly. What is amazing, is how many people pass it without knowing the significance of it.

When I last went to Roundstone - to buy the B- word instruments (or as Ian Anderson - Flute player with Jethro Tull - once put it on stage: “Doane (Perry) is not a musician, he’s our drummer”) I drove past it thinking ‘that boat looks familar!’ but not realising where I had seen it before.

Jessie not only has a keen eye, but an acute knowledge of the Irish music scene.

REally great Jessie. The picture Dale picked is almost mesmerizing. Unfortunately I couldn’t download all the pictures so I “missed the boat”. Will try again another time. Gm

And she shall have music where ever she goes..

Hey Jessie,

What’s the whistle you’re playing?

B~

Jessie, what wonderful, wonderful pictures!!! It looks like you an incredible time. I’m really sorry we didn’t meet up as planned, but I’ve been away from e-mail for about three weeks now. I was out on Achill Island at Schoil Achla studying with Hammy Hamilton, Paul McGratten and Harry Bradley. Hammy told me you ordered two of his flutes  Cool. Connemara is absolutely beautiful, isn’t it? I can’t believe you found that boat! THat’s so cool. I probably drove by it in the bus, but I missed it. Unfortunately I haven’t got a car over here so I’ve been relying on hitching and public transport. By the way, those Martin Doyle flutes are absolutely superb, aren’t they? And cheap as anything!! Some of the best fluting I’ve heard here has been on Martin’s flutes. You didn’t get a chance to meet him did you? I met him at Willy Week and he taught us all sorts of cool cross-fingerings. Excellent. I haven’t been down to Dingle yet, but I’m leaving Galway today for Ennis and then I’m off to Dingle. Should be fun! THanks again for the pictures and keep in touch.
Best,
Chris

I was playing my beloved Abell Madagascar Rosewood d.

Chris, my goodness! The picture that Dale put on the website was taken at Achill Island during the school there. I wish I had known you were there!! Dang! I knew Hammy was there. I have one of his flutes and I have two more on order (different kinds). I didn’t get to meet Martin Doyle. Sounds like he was a lot of fun! Keep having the time of your life!

Great pictures!

If anyone is interested in more trip pictures (from a different person), have a gander at http://www.dragonseye.com/ireland

We also made it to some of the same shops

Thank you for the link to those pictures! We played at An Conair pub in Dingle, too.

Great pics! I’ll have to look for the boat if it’s still there in May. Last year we did Cork and Kerry, next year Galway. I’m making notes of where to find sessions, so any hints are well appreciated!

Tyghress, we found great sessions in Kinvara, especially the Monday night one at Greene’s. At Greene’s, the sign says “M.Creen”. Hee hee.

Why no e-mail link, Tyghress?

 Jessie

“why no email link. . .”

I haven’t a clue. I thought I allowed for it in my profile. I’ve just changed the profile. Let’s see if it comes up. If not, this is easy, Tyghress@aol.com

Nice work Jessie. I told you Ireland was fantastic. Even better than Boston last year eh?
