A case of abuse?

here’s where we can say the lines are drawn…

wood flutes abused! (see the mp3 samples for the “madera” or wood flute)

http://www.renelorente.com/music.htm

ouch

Let’s start spelling Böhm the way he does: Böehm.

For those of you without umlauts . . . that’s Boeehm!

Yikes.

i guess i don’t get it … i’ve seen him before, with the Miami version of Orquesta Aragon, he’s an excellent player.

guess you have to like charanga, though.

Thanks David, you brightened up my morning.

Is the world ready for the first charanga/trad fusion CD?

don’t think i haven’t thought of it… my wife hates it when she’s listening to charanga and i pull out the whistle

that’s hardly abuse. i think it’s pretty cool to see and hear the conical being used in a different genre. nice tone, plays in the third octave, and plays accidentals, and with bongos too! … up cuba!
imho, abuse would be gawd awful sounds coming from the instrument like muted tones that conjure up images of constipated cows, or squeaky squawks like a duck being run thru a band saw etc., hmm…sounds that i typically seem to get from the flute.

I agree. Sounds great to me.

Hey! I resemble that remark! :boggle:

the guy is like the Yanni of 8key flutes
or the Zamfir of the simple-system!

we should have a late-nite commercial just for him…

John Tesh and Senor Lorente meet Charanga fusion.
Whoopee!!

Zamfir and Rene meet the Mummy…er…Mommy…er…Madre.

(and if you cannot read into my humor…which some of you haven’t…then you need to untighten! OMG…so SERIOUS here!!)

Ahh… Dave’s just jealous! That guy kicks ass.

No… really… “jazz flute is for fairy boys.”

He and Ron Burgundy should hook up.

I think I tried that Burgundy thing once!
Flaming Rudall!

hope all is well in Eire, Blayne!
Cold beckons back home.
you’ll have new tunes to teach me!

David Migoya welcome to the 1K club.

i’m almost reluctant to say that I am at a loss on that one!

er…
hmmm…
okay…
i’ll bite…

what’s the 1K club?

1,000 posts. Congrats on having a lot to say about wooden flutes.

If you go to the CF pub, you’ll see what they do when someone hits 1000 (or 2k, 3k, etc)… We are much simpler on the flute forum

as a prize, i’ll pop over to Coral Gables and get you the name of Lorente’s hairstylist.

screw the stylist…give me the hair!

OMG
1000 posts?
that’s embarrassing!

Ok, David, now you’re just running your count up.

oh now i get it, it’s not the fluteplaying but melodramatic overlydone syrupy production surrounding it. i’m sure the oldtime charanga players must love it too.
