Hi, kids.
When Kevin Conneff autographed my bodhran this past weekend he wrote something that looks like:
“Trad (or is it Frad?) Saol (or is it Siaol?).”
Does anyone have any inkling what this might say/mean?

p.s. My guess is it’s gaelic for “Learn to play, you moron” or words to that affect.
“Fradh Sioal” is actually a common abbreviation for Ghabhair Fradhmhaioilghnhaih Sioahlhmghn mBhrodhranni Mhiobhoinnaich Bhan Comhtholoitigh ghrah Clheithidigh Ni Craithlingh Mhairseach suilh which means “I will not buy this record. It is scratched.” That in turn is a reference to ancient Irish legend involving a tabbaconist, an English oppressor on a bicycle, and a Hungarian phrasebook.

“Fad Saol” I was told it meant “long life.” Kevin signed my bodhran with the same thing two years ago.

How do you pronounce that, Bloomfield?
‘Fad Saoil’ is (as mentioned before) long life Pronounced: Fod sale.
‘Saol Crua’ is hard life
‘is ait an mac an saol’ becomes life is strange
‘Saol’ can be used in various ways to mean: life, lifetime or ‘world’.
Note the extra ‘i’ in the first usage.

Actually, Steve, Bloomfield can vouch that I’m a whiskey drinkin’ woman. . .the Coke is rare for me. Maybe I need more?
As for any beverage and my finger frustration, I maintain that the more you drink the better I sound!
