I thought I’d share this old family photo.
On the right is my Great Grandpa Walden. On the left is my great grand uncle from the other side of the family.

That is a very cool photo. Thanks for sharing Walden.
That’s is a wonderful picture Walden! A real keepsake…
Fascinating. Approximately when does that photo date from?
Some time in the early 20th Century Oklahoma.
cool photo, Walden ![]()
I love old photos. Cool stuff Walden!
Terrific pic Walden-- great grandpa looks a bit like a young Henry Fonda.
Imagine the embarrassment if one of them had been holding a r€cord€r.
That is a brilliant pic! ![]()
Notice they are NOT carrying firearms which dispels the myth that everyone in the Old West went about armed to the teeth looking for gunfights.
Great photos Walden.
Are you sure the guy on the left side of the picture isn’t Michael J. Fox?
I imagine there’s an ocarina tucked into a jacket pocket of the kid on the left.
Yeah, that’s Uncle Albert. There’s an unmistakeable family resemblance between him and a good many of the family who are still living.
Remarkable memento of a bygone era.
Excellent condition for its age.
Slan,

Great uncle looks like he’s got a huge wad o’ chewin’ baccy going there. I wonder what the next photo a couple of minutes later would have been like. If he caught great grampa on the leg with a foul black stream, the third photo would have been even more interesting. ![]()

Great photo and very evocative of a way of life. Thanks, Walden, for sharing that. (I agree with Paul about the Henry Fonda connection!)

Ah, Walden!
Great picture!
Great uncle’s mount seems to be a bit on the cantankerous side…
True, true. These two were not the member of the family known for gunfighting.
I wouldn’t doubt that at all.
Great Grandpa, himself, had a cleft palate, and much of what he said went un-understood, which kept him out of quite a bit of trouble, at times.
One time he was said to have stood up in church and declared “I don’t believe chewin’ tobacco is a sin, because my daddy chewed tobacco, and I know he went to heaven!”
Another time, he and Great Grandma Walden had the preacher over to dinner, and the preacher was a portly man, prone to a large appetite. He ate and ate and ate, and then lay down on the floor, moaning with indigestion, and called out, “Brother Walden, come pray for me!”
Grandpa Walden prayed, “Lord, heal this glutton.”
Yes, a bit muley. ![]()

My late sister-in-law had some interesting late-1800s photos of some of her family members. In one shot there were about 20 of them, all lined up in front of some big building, and they all had guns. All of the really old photos we have in my family are formal portraits.
