A Bit of Prose

The year was 2524, three years after the Democratic Party and the Republican Party ironed out their differences, and a year before some 1969 song. Texas was rejoicing, they had come closer to beating the University of Oklahoma in football than they had in well over five centuries. But, lo, a dark cloud hung over the land.

The WhOA Consortium had held sway over several of the world’s poorest nations, crippling their economies, but the Musical Assistance League had come together for an emergency session.

After a few airs and a slip jig, discussion of the problem began in earnest. It was decided that there was no hope but to call in some C&F agents. The finest minds in Chiffdom were called in. Unfortunately, they’d been bickering quite a bit, as they’d been playing in the OT Political and Sometimes Religious thread, but they soon came to order.

“How will we beat the Consortium?” the spokesman for the Musical Action League asked.

“It’s simple,” replied the C&F spokesman, “We have to beat them at their own game.”

“You mean, begin selling our own whistles?”

“No, no,” said C&F’s spokesman, “We simply must buy up the stock, for the good of the world.”

“In other words,” said the Chair of the Musical Action League, “You want us to do what the Canadians did in the Poutine Crisis of 2018?”

“Yes. That’s right.”

Walden,
You are the only person on the board who can leave me speechless ( for all the right reasons, I hasten to add.)

Slan,
D.

Those Canadians may never “live down” their role in that blasted thing, and their subsequent takeover of Idaho went over like a one-eyed spud.
