8 Keyed 19th Century English flute on Ebay

Item 300341996693

Regards,
S.

mmm…late 19th century or early 20th, unknown maker, cracks to repair, and a $1,500 starting bid…but some evidence that it’s playable I guess. You’d want to try it before bidding at that price I’d have thought?

yeah…but the case is nice

the fiddle player is a bit scrawny

fer the lazy!

Looks like it could be yet another Metzler…
your right, nice case!

Thanks, Denny, for the link.
The flute sounds pretty good to me.
The crack about the fiddle player was uncalled for.

certainly some similarities in the block and key work. How is the lower scale tuning when played at 440Hz? It’s a little hard to tell in the mix with the band.

PS. if anyone would like to buy my (presumed) c1850s Metzler for 1,500 of your American dollars I’m open to offers, but sadly I don’t have the nice case

I have one and its not presumed AND a really cool case.

Take that!

:poke:

yer welcome!

pot/kettle darling

Most of the Metzlers, were made to play at a higher pitch, so you can have a sharp lower end, and the head needs to be pulled way out, but not all of them.
