3rd finger stretch problem on Poe Polymer D flute

Hi,

I am having a problem with the stretch on my Poe flute on my right hand, third finger. Playing the D note is quite a stretch even though my hands are not small sized. It also slows down my playing. Any suggestions to work around this? My teacher said it felt strange to him and that I may need to get a new flute if it still poses a problem. Is it me or the flute that is the problem? That is my dilemma. Will buying a new flute make me play better or do I have to work harder on that stretch and save $300+?

Help! I need suggestions.

The Poe flute has a cylindrical bore as opposed to a conical bore, the latter of which is traditional for simple system flutes. Because of the cylindrical bore, in order to get the notes in tune, the finger stretch has to be uncomfortably big. A conical bore flute will solve your problem.
