3 movies

Here’s 3 movies i’ve seen lately that I thought were pretty good:

The Tao Of Steve; This seems to be perhaps an independent effort and I noticed in the credits that it was co-written by the lead female role. Overall a good-natured fun movie and it sure catches the atmosphere of New Mexico both in the people it portrays as well as showing some beautiful scenery.

16 Blocks; Bruce Willis action flick but with alot of heart and a good storyline.

The Family Stone; Actually it was Dale who ended up getting me to watch this with his recommendation a couple of months back of ‘Shopgirl’ -I liked Shopgirl ok but something about it bugged me a little; the Steve Martin role maybe… anyway I was intrigued by Clare Danes though whom I had heard of but was not really familiar with so started checking out some of her other flicks such as Stage Beauty and this one. By the way Stage beauty is also a very good movie and I liked The Family Stone quite a bit as well.

I just finished watching that 2 hours ago! Aside from Mos Def’s strange accent and my friend’s flatmate asking questions every 2 minutes I thought it was pretty good. Most of the twists were a bit obvious though.

Obvious to you but not to your friend’s flatmate anyway! Yea, i usually don’t much care for what i think of as mindless action/thriller/cop flicks but this one just seemed to have enough heart and an ok story that i liked it.

Maybe a bit like the movie Cellular…normally not my style but one i also was entertained by.

Didn’t care for 16 Blocks at all. It was several blocks too long and the rest was just a rehash of cop movies from the 80s. Willis seems to be showing up in a lot of junk movies lately. He must owe someone alot of money.
