the sax player in dmb plays abell pennywhistles. I am not completly sure because i am away right now and cannot check the CD. I remember i looked on the back of the busted stuff cd and i believe it siad that he played abell tin whistles. i listened to the cd and couldn’t hear a pennywhistle in any of the songs. Could someone point out the songs he plays the whistle on in the cd busted stuff.

the new copeland low D reminded me to comment. i got mine a couple of months ago and love it, have not really been able to play anything else since it came. (at least at home. i have a plastic suprano d stashed just about everywhere else). mine is the 3 piece. i see no down side to the 3 piece. the lower joint is a little difficult to work but should improve with time. i break it down frequently to hurry the process. and because i am paranoid that it will get stuck.
when broken down into 3 pieces, it fits beautifully into a semi soft flute case i was able to purchase at my local music store for 48 bucks. there is a nice side pocket for high whistles.
anyway, it is nice to be able to slightly adjust the position of the right hand holes with regard to the left hand holes.
regarding the instrument in general, it is incredible. when dale originally reviewed it, his instrument had an issue of low E slipping into middle e maybe a little too easily. i have not noticed that- maybe he voices them differently now. likewise, even as a beginner i have no problem hitting the low D, even from very high preceeding notes. with this instrument, i hear what comes out and wonder who is playing cause it sure as hell don’t sound like me.
anyway, the 3 piece option works well.

He does an intro and outro to the song ‘Bartender.’ The intro is probably at the end of ‘Big Eyed Fish’ if you can’t find it. It is also on their live album in Colorado.
