1867 nanomachine now reality

LONDON, England (Reuters) – Nearly 150 years ago it was no more than a concept by a visionary scientist, but researchers have now created a minuscule motor that could lead to the creation of microscopic nanomachines.

I always suspected Nano was really a robot.

Scot-bot

I wondered why he was always asking me if I knew where Sarah Connor was… :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, what a horrible and inaccurate paragraph. I read the article
twice and I still don’t know why this engine is different from
current nanotechnology. I guess I have to get my hands on a copy of
Nature. It’s pretty cool that they waited exactly 150 years to build it.

nanomachineS? Don’t they think that one is far more than we need? :boggle:

 it’s the little things that count…

Huhhh…?

“It is a machine mechanism that is going to take molecular machines a step forward to the realization of the future world of nanotechnology. Things that seem like a Harry Potter film now are going to be a reality.”

It wasn’t a very well written article. All I got from it was that someday we’ll be able to turn Nano into a water goblet. (I’ll bet the water would taste pretty odd). :boggle:

BBC was a little better…

Well, I always said I wanted to be protean. I’d turn myself into a water-goblet just for the crack. Which, by the way, is the end you’d be drinking from. Did you say something about the taste?

Ah. Well constructed, informative sentences:

Poor metaphors, though:

Apparantly, there’s a point at which even the media can’t
dumb down a concept. I guess it could be thought of as a
diode for particles other than electrons…

Yeah, magic’s not a great comparison. I think it’ll be closer to the T1000.

 I made a diode for goats once

But they got better.
