Re: Recommend a sturdy Low D Whistle, please?

I think you could use my Thunderbird as a police baton!

Re: Current wait time for a keyed flute?

You could also check with Blayne Chastain’s Irish Flute Store if you’re interested in used. Great to deal with, fair prices, and ships fast.

If it's in Eb, wouldn't it be called a fife?

Re: simultaneous air & reel

I wonder if you could play the same reel at full speed and half speed? Some reels sound completely different if you play at “slow air” speed. Pat Éamon De Buitléar and Ceoltóirí Laighean played a really nice arrangement of The Star of Munster reel, where they would start out really slow and air lik...

Re: Airs?

One of my current faves is Joanie Madden’s “The Hills of New Zealand”. I don’t think it’s in any books yet, but there are versions of it on YouTube.

Re: Flute or telescope...?

Personally, I shy away from recommending “smart” scopes for beginners. Yeah, you get to see objects you might otherwise have difficulty finding, by you don’t really learn the sky. I’ve been doing this astronomy stuff for over 40 years and only owned one smart scope many years ago (no longer own it)....

Re: Flute or telescope...?

6” Dobsonian from Orion telescopes is, in my humble amateur astronomer opinion, the best beginner scope out there. You can find it at telescopes.com

Look for the SkyQuest XT-6

Re: Advice needed for a good all around Whistle

The A is probably your best bet. Still usable in sessions, as it can play in D, but low enough in pitch to sound interesting. There are lots of options for whistles in that key, too. Mine is a Chieftain...

Re: Very basic editing of lesson and session recordings

I use Audacity for splitting into individual tracks - works great! You can then do equalizing, etc, fairly easily... Not sure why you find this difficult.

Re: Suspicious business practices from a seller.

Haven't seen this mentioned yet, but PayPal policy expressly prohibits the use of F&F for purchases such as those conducted here. In fact, if you are caught doing this they will disable your account - probably both parties. When I buy from someone using PayPal I offer to pay the extra 3%. To be ...
