UK/German customs...
Thanks Trish, I think future orders from the US are going to my Mum's address in Edinburgh... I'm still getting stuck into your A Flute... Thanks for selling it to me. Do you have any particular arrangements of tunes that you liked to play it to in sessions? It works well for me for accompanying son...

Thanks Kevin
Kevin, I'd also like to say thanks for doing these CDs. Absolutely amazing stuff, I have to limit myself, since my SO sometimes wants to listen to something else... But apart from that - perfect! And to all the rest of you, I can only praise Kevin's customer service - after one set of CDs disappeare...

Oiling Day at the Cracknell Flute farm
Bought myself some Almond oil from Body Shop - sold as a base for aromatherapy? So it is probably "cosmetic" grade. The LeBlanc Oil mentions having Petroleum based stuff in it, so I guess that means it is probably a non dreying mineral oil mixture. This would fit with the impression it lea...

Etude.
I have an Etude for the Boehm flute at the moment and it has a section which goes (all slurred and on one breath): gf#gfggdgcgBgAgGgAgBgcgdgegfgdg <breath> <same again> - you could easily extend it to gGgF#gEgDgEgF# and adapt it for the keyless flute. If you master that exercise, then you'll have no...

CNat key or cross finger?
Hi All, In tunes in G or C ( or F or Bflat, etc.), do you tend to stick to either the C-Nat key or the cross fingered C-nat? Or do you vary depending on the situation? (Assuming youve got a keyed flute!) E.g in the Gravel walks where the C-nat comes into some very fast triplets in the version I have...

yes, but does it dry?
Thanks, this is the information I had been able to find too, but what I really like to know is whether the oil is one that hardens on longer exposure to air or not. And if it does, how long does it take?

LeBlanc Woodwind bore oil
Hi All,
Does anyone know whether this oil (supplied by Terry McGee with one of his flutes) is a hardening oil? I can't seem to find the information anywhere on LeBlanc's website.
Thanks.
Chris

B Foot.
I have both sorts of flute, and on my Yamaha I have a B foot. I don't really notice it when I'm not playing that low note, but I suppose the flute is a bit heavier. Whether one needs the B is a matter of opinion - there are times when its' really nice to have, e.g Mhairi Bhan Og in G even for tradit...

Honk with Power
Thinking about my own post, an example occurred to me of a situation where I definitely use the powered version of the tone - when using a short sharp "honk" as a rhythmic device in a faster tune. Does however need the rest of the tune to be different so that the honk stands out.

Power in the flute
Hi All, Been thinking for a while about how much power I use when playing my flutes (McGee GLP and Silver bodied Boehm). Different flutes, different embouchures, different Stylistic norms and all that, I know... However I decided to ask what you all think of the following, and what you do yourselves...

Thanks for the answers Guys. @Barry, thanks for the welcome. The D is not particularly sharp, just noticeably so compared with the other instruments I play with, and even then only when I play with the LH1 finger raised and the cork where I have put it. The rest of the 2nd octave is very well in tun...

Cork Position on McGee GLP
(probably one for Terry to answer himself, but I fancied getting other people's input too.) I've had my flute now for about 4 months and I've been playing about with the stopper position. I read the advice (can no longer remember where.) that one should set the stopper to tune the different overtone...
