E flat session recordings?
Anyone know where I can see recordings of e-flat sessions? Video would be good but audio-only is OK.

Only if you count playing in workshops in outdoor festivals.

Re: Festivals this year?
Well, it certainly looked like pre-Covid times at the Celtic Fling near Harrisburg in Pennsylvania yesterday. Non-vaccinated people were supposed to wear masks, but I don't think I saw more than a dozen. This is a large festival with thousands of people. Attendance appeared to be normal. Tickets wer...

Re: Side note to the APOD thread
The "smallish" missile on the right is a Explorer-mounted Jupiter C. The next to the left is the Redstone (named for Redstone Arsenal where it was developed). The rather large one is the Saturn I-B, and the smaller one (hard to pick out) just in front of the Saturn I-B is a Jupiter (one o...

"Trial of Jim Kelly" back story?
Accordionist John Whelan composed a reel circa 2000 called the "Trial of Jim Kelly". I'm trying to find online any details about the back story, bits and pieces of which I've heard: Jim Kelly was a festival promoter who stiffed the musicians at a particular festival in the US. Whelan and s...

Re: Festivals this year?
The Dills Celtic Festival at Dillsburg Pennsylvania is apparently taking place this weekend. I'm not planning to go. Their website says: Ticket sales may be capped and attendance may be limited due to the pandemic. The festival will follow all CDC and Pennsylvania Heath Department pandemic guideline...

Festivals this year?
Does anyone know if music festivals are likely to be held this coming year and under what restrictions? I'd especially like to hear from anyone who would usually be performing or involved in planning or staging festivals. From anywhere in the world.

Re: Does it all come back to you - or not?
It's been about five decades. I've played other instruments since then. Piano (which I actually started before clarinet, and had about a fifteen-year break from. I never lost the memory of which keys played which notes). Whistle. Irish flute. To a much lesser extent, recorder, harmonica, guitar. I d...

Does it all come back to you - or not?
I played clarinet in grade school band, but not since - until very recently. I had a chance to acquire a clarinet at a reasonable price and did. I also got one of the beginner methods for band, since I was effectively starting from scratch. Well, maybe. Wouldn't it all come back to me? Well, it's no...

So just what is an "advanced whistle player"?
(from another topic): it's not uncommon for advanced players to hear a new tune, and after the first or second turn - hey presto - they're playing it, too. But with most such, this is the result of decades of physical practice (getting that mind-body connection down, or letting go of it, depending o...
