Re: Whistle Vibrato: four approaches

I use the As-Seen-On-TV Shake Weight.
I have to use my feet, but on the plus side, I've dropped 18 pounds.

Very cool. I enjoyed that very much.
Bon Jovi needs to do an ITM come-back tour, featuring Lem McCullough. :D

Re: FS: Abell D/C Whistle set $495 or best offer

I've sold quite a few items internationally. It may tick off the buyers, but I insist on using an option that affords me tracking and insurance. I also get all terms IN STONE and get the buyer to agree to them beforehand. I make clear I'm going to declare the item at value and that I will not accept...

Re: Little Wing

Yup, I play along with that Youtube video now and then. I have that CD too. IMO the MTV Unplugged version is better than the Live in Dublin version. Jimi Hendrix played tin-whistle at the end of I f 6 Was 9 (Axis album). Yup again. Jimi Hendrix was quoted in one interview saying how he was in...

A Whistle Bag Thread

Just thought I'd show what I use to store/transport whistles. I'm curious to see what others use. This is a drumstick bag I bought off fleaBay. My favorite part is the Woodland Camo that makes me look like a whistle commando. Outer compartment stores some whistle bodies and odds & ends. http://i...

Dixon DX006 Questions

I've been thinking about picking up this whistle. It's available at a moderate price (~$70), and I've seen occasional blips about it that are positive. I enjoy playing my Dixon Trad in D (heck, it's in my avatar) though it's a quiet whistle, and I'm wondering how the DX006, as a Soprano D whistle, w...

Hey, It's Just 12 Months, Right?

Re: Do you prefer to play "Loosy Goosy" or "Mighty Tighty"?

After six pints or so, I get loosy goosy and start to grind my hips like Andrea Corr.

The effect, sadly, just isn't the same.

Looking for Burke D Advice

I haven't posted here much lately, but I have been playing & practicing with greater regularity recently. I have about 10 or 12 tunes that I have wrapped my fingers around, and I'm starting to work more on ornamentation, both with exercises and integration into tunes. This summer, I decided I'd ...

Re: advice for moving beyond beginner level?

Buy the O'Riordan from Feadoggie then get a copy of John Coltrane's Penny Whistle Tapes and have at it! Thanks for posting up about this. It took some doing, but I was finally able to locate a copy of this recording at a used music store in-state. I just drove the 120 mile round trip and was able t...

Square Plastic Sleeves?

Has anyone run up on the square plastic sleeves similar to the ones that accompany Dixon whistles? I carry my whistles in a drumstick bag, and I would like a few more of these sleeves to separate the whistles and to keep them from banging together. I contacted Dixon about them and was told that Dixo...
